Sundial Clocks
The oldest type of clock is the sundial clock. They were first used around 3500 B.C. (about 5,500 years ago). They could only be used to tell time during the day since they were dependent upon the sun. The most common of the sundial clock was the garden sundial. This sundial cast a shadow on a flat surface marked with the hours of the day. As the position of the sun changed, the time indicated by the shadow changed. Owning a sundial clock would be a unique timepiece for any clock collector.
